The AI Race is Intensifying - But This is Good for Us
Hey there!
The pace of AI advancement is truly incredible right now.
If you blinked in the last two weeks, you probably missed a major release!
It feels like the big players are in a full-on sprint, trying to one-up each other almost daily. Check this rapid-fire sequence:
-
Mar 12: Google drops Gemini 2.0 with native image generation/editing (API).
-
Mar 14: Google opens that image magic to the public via AI Studio.
-
[OpenAI likely feels the heat, hinting through social media that something’s coming…]
-
Mar 24: BOOM! DeepSeek V3.1 arrives — massive 1M token context, smarter reasoning/coding, AND it’s open source! A serious contender.
-
Mar 25: OpenAI finally pushes out its image generation/editing inside ChatGPT. (Finally! This is the first model that can generate text on an image!)
-
Mar 25: Same day (!) Google answers back with Gemini 2.5 Pro — matching the 1M token context (aiming for 2M!), enhanced multi-modal skills, top-tier performance.
Just to give you a sense of what 1M (million) tokens means: that’s roughly 7 to 16 books, depending on length. So you can easily paste the text of several books into the chat window and ask the AI about that context. 🤯
It’s like they barely let OpenAI catch its breath! First Google beats them to integrated image generation, then DeepSeek and Gemini 2.5 pile on the pressure with huge context windows and performance boosts.
But This Is Great For Us!
It pushes innovation faster, makes powerful tools more accessible, and forces platforms to keep adding value.
Forget trying to perfectly understand every detail or waiting for the “final” version (spoiler: there isn’t one). The game now is about curiosity and rapid experimentation.
-
See a new feature drop? Don’t just read about it — try it.
-
Feel overwhelmed? Focus on one small experiment instead of trying to grasp everything.
-
Think “it’s not perfect yet”? Reframe to “How can I use this imperfect tool to do something useful today?”
Ready To Dive In?
I challenge you to test this out:
-
Sign in with your Google account (free)
-
On the right side, select Gemini 2.5 and test the improved model (it impressed me)
- Simply start a conversation on any topic, idea, or problem you need help with in the chat window below
Google AI Studio
- Or choose Gemini 2.0 Flash (Image generation) - Below you can see how I added sunglasses to a dog 😎
- You can also share your screen with the AI and ask it to guide you or explain something on your screen
I’ve tried this screen sharing feature a few times, but it doesn’t work well yet…
This fast-paced AI world rewards action and experimentation above all else.
Happy experimenting!
Primož
P.S. If you need help with testing, let me know 😉
