What if there was a place where you could find all my guides, tips, and resources in one place?
Hey there!
What if there was a place where you could find all my guides, tips, and resources in one place, accessible anytime?
I’m creating this place - and why it’s important, you’ll find out in the lines below.
Why do I need a new website?
If you ever want to write a newsletter, Kit.com (formerly known as ConvertKit) is an excellent platform for this purpose, and I use it too. But it has its limitations.
I imagined something more flexible - a space where you can:
- Return for knowledge anytime, not just when a new newsletter arrives
- Find all resources in one place, organized and accessible
- Explore topics that interest you - when it suits you
The current platform simply doesn’t allow me to do this. At the same time, I realize that I need to offer you the best possible experience…
What exactly will the new website offer?
Imagine a hub of knowledge and inspiration, where you’ll always find:
- All past newsletters
- Useful prompts (like the one for creating simple websites that I shared in the past)
- A collection of all the guides I’ve written
- And space for new ideas that I haven’t shared with you yet
Instead of this information being scattered or lost in your inbox, it will all be in one place, organized and always accessible.
The newsletter will still serve to keep you informed about news in a timely manner and to maintain a more personal contact with you. P.S: If you ever have any questions, I’m always available.
AI + new technology = better experience
As in the past, I’m using AI to build the website according to my wishes.
I spent the last two weekends in the company of my AI programmer, ordering it what to do and what to fix if it missed something. For example:
Explanation:
The text was missing, so I pasted an image into the chat window showing how it should look, and it then figured out that something was wrong in the translation file. It fixed the code, and I just checked how the fixed website looks (not the code 😉).
This is roughly what the process of “programming” or talking with AI looks like when creating a website. 🙂
And here are some key findings about technology choices:
- Windsurf IDE - this is a program for writing code that uses AI. I chose Windsurf because I’m testing how it differs from the more popular Cursor and it’s more advanced than the Cline plugin. Possible alternatives:
- Astro framework - it provides me with quick basic building blocks for the website. I chose Astro because it’s optimized for speed and efficiency with static content. At the same time, it offers flexibility for more advanced features. Possible alternatives:
- Cloudflare for hosting (the place where the website is available). Cloudflare basically uses a CDN (Content Delivery Network), which means that the website will be stored in multiple locations around the world. When you open it, it will load instantly because it will be delivered to your computer from the nearest location. Cloudflare is actually somewhere between Vercel and AWS - so just the right choice for this project. It offers free hosting and flexibility for possible upgrades with databases, AI integrations, and the like. Possible alternatives:
So, you’ve learned something about web technologies today. Don’t worry, this is just to let you know what exists, but if you use it, I’ve just indicated the most optimal choice of technologies at the moment, which I’m betting on. 😉
What’s next?
Expect more updates on progress in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, you can let me know:
- What content would you like to see on the new site?
- Do you have any questions about the technologies I’m using?
- Is there a specific topic that you would like to see covered in more detail?
Just reply to this message.
Until next time,
Primož
